Mrs. Catherine Miller

God saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb, so He did what he thought was best. He whispered unto my daughter, “Come, take your rest.” Catherine took her father’s hand and entered a place where she is blessed. Catherine departed this life December 21, 2020 at Merit Health Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. She was born to the late Bubba Barnes, Sr. and the late Clentonia Woodard Washington and Charlie “Boot” Washington (stepfather). She was a native of Union Church, Mississippi located in Jefferson County. She attended school and graduated in the Class of 1957 from Liddell High School. Catherine moved to Michigan 1959, where she was joined together in Holy Matrimony to the late Robert Miller, Sr. on May 18, 1959. In their years of matrimony, four children were conceived. Catherine was an entrepreneur and caregiver with many gifts and talents. Mother Miller accepted Christ at an early age. She helped organized churches and performed a host of different ministries within the church. She also was a faithful member of Hickory Block United Methodist Church’s Women Missionary Society. Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Miller, Sr.; parents, Charlie and Clentonia Washington; father, Bubba Barnes, Sr.; brother, Jimmy Washington; siblings, Mary Ruth Epherson, Dorothy Barnes, A. C. Barnes, Joe Louis Barnes and Charlene Barnes. Catherine memories will be cherished by her children, Evangelist Ida Miller, Elder Robert Miller, Jr., Pastor Sondress Walker, Michael Miller; step-children, Alta F. Newton, Sandra D. Williams, Calvin Gibbs and Cloretha Gibbs; an adopted son, Andrew C. Williams; grandchildren, Mondresa (Maurice) Davis, Henry Brown, III, Da’Jhauh Brown (Levi Mills), Demica Miller, Tenia Miller, Kamere “Tonie” Miller, Chanel “CoCo” Miller, Madison Miller, Michael Miller II, Adrean Williams and Tremante Williams; special son and daughter, Elijah and Mary Lee Smith; and four great-grandchildren, Xion Curry, Aries Curry, Alyssa Jackson, and Malkiel Miller.
