Mr. James Albert "Sonny Boy" Clay

Mr. Clay was born on February 4, 1932 in Adams County, the son of Sylvester Clay, Sr. and Emma Watson Pollard. He graduated from St. Francis High School and was drafted into the United States Army in 1952. After his service in the Army, he returned to Natchez and worked with the City of Natchez in the Sanitation and Water Works Departments until he retired in 1996. He loved to putter around the home performing many chores. James was a family man who cherished his time with them. James was preceded in death by his wife: Lydia Woods Clay; his son: Michael Clay ; his parents; his sisters: Emma Pollard, Cora Pollard; his brothers: Sylvester Clay, Jr. Roosevelt Clay. He is survived by: three sons: James Clay and wife Linda, Riley Clay and wife Mary, Kenny Clay and wife Angela; two daughters: Chriscella Clay and Monica Clay Morris and husband Michael; grandchildren: Melvin Mason, Christopher Johnson, Stephanie Seaberry, Jamie Clay, Lydia Clay, James Clay, LaShanda Washington-Taylor, Britney Thomas, Branton Thomas, Lavanya Clay-Nicholson, Tonique Clay-Blanchard, Cassey Clay-Fluker, Riley Clay, Jr. Taja Smith, Kawami “Ricki” Clay, Justin Clay, Chriscella “Lee” Clay, Meredith Morris, Clay Morris and Jackson Morris and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
