Mrs. Mabel Ann-Catherine McClain Brooks

Mrs. Brooks was born on January 3, 1922 in Wilkinson County, the daughter of Rev. John A. McClain and Lula Armstrong McClain. She attended school in Wilkinson County (Cold Springs Community). Mabel was employed by Jefferson Davis Memorial Hospital for more than thirty-two years. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Oak Gove Baptist Church. Mrs. Brooks later moved her membership closer to home with Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess. She enjoyed reading the Bible and cooking. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Rev. C. J. Brooks; daughter: Ida B. Brooks; grandson: Timothy Earle Greene; brothers: John A. McClain, Jr., Henry Allen McClain, John McClain; sisters: Edna Gertrude McClain, Alberta Willis-Davis, Wayner Brooks, Ethel McClain, Mary Lizzie McClain and Estelle Reynolds. She is survived by a daughter: Greateal Brooks-Green of Port Gibson, MS; two sons: Daniel Brooks of Natchez and Curtis L. Brooks of San Francisco, CA; three grandchildren: Joycelynn Brooks of Port Gibson, Iris Wiley of Natchez and Julius E. Green II and wife LaTrina of Terry, MS; one great grandson: Julius E.
