    Mr. Oliver "Buddy" Evans, Sr.

    April 18, 1930 - June 2, 2016

    Mr. Evans was born on April 18, 1930 in Woodville, MS the son of Robert Evans, Sr and Katie Bell Evans. Oliver was educated at Holy Family Catholic School (formerly St. Francis). He was retired from J.C.. Penney and A & P Supermarkets. Mr. Evans was a member of Christian Hope Missionary Baptist Church where he serve on the Deacon Board. He enjoyed worshipping at Mt. Kingdom Missionary Baptist Church in New Orleans. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding horses, hunting, dogs, fishing. His interests were watching western movies, spending time with family and friends, eating soul food dishes and listening to gospel music especially Mahalia Jackson. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Josephine Evans; grandson: Derek Reed; siblings: Darling, Robert, Albert, Benny Evans, Lillian Griggs, Mavis Lighthall and Amelia Evans. Oliver is survived by one son: Oliver Evans, Jr., of Chicago, IL; six daughters: Jacqueline Reed and husband Ronald of Maywood, IL; Mavis Picquet of New Orleans; Wynotta Thompson and husband James of Inglewood, CA, Gretchen Eskridge and husband Richard of Douglasville, GA, Sharon Evans of Acworth, GA, Cynthia Minor and husband Anthony of Dayton, TX;; 20 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren ; one sister: Inell Johnson of Pensacoula, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
